To strengthen our community outreach efforts, the Alliance Française of Reno is partnering with Jewish Nevada, an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Jewish cultural heritage, and the French and Basque Studies departments at the University of Nevada Reno, to develop a presentation on the history of the French Resistance whose presence throughout France played a significant role in facilitating the Allies’ rapid advance through the country following the invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944. One of our objectives is to engage with the large Basque community in Northern Nevada and incorporate their heritage into our cultural program.
