Le Mois de la Francophonie at AFKC

Alliance Française de Kansas City had an impressive month of the francophonie in March!
Executive Director Shieva Ghassemi reported that, other than their recurring activities such as Walk & Talk and Club de Lecture, the group was able to offer the following special events:
- March 8: To kick off le Mois de la Francophonie, the AF hosted a theatrical performance of an adaptation of Amélie Nothomb’s award winning novel “Stupeur et Tremblement”. This one-woman play, directed and written by the talented French Moroccan Artist Layla Metssitane, was breathtaking. It was the perfect event to have on March 8th, the Journée internationale des femmes.
- March 18: The AF hosted the Concours de la Palme d’Or for the second time. They were very excited to do so, especially since their small chapter had a winner last year. This is a competition which tests French cultural-linguistic knowledge and is organized by the DLF (Défense de la langue française).
- March 22: The AF had a group outing to watch a soccer match between Sporting KC and Los Angeles FC. We say: “Allez! S P O R T I N G, K C ! ”
- March 27: The AFKC, along with the University of K.C. sponsored the Goldenberg Duo, a performance of classical music for violin and Piano.
- March 30: They ended the month on a strong note with a conference presented by Professor Kathy Krauss, one of our board members on the “Role of French Women in the Founding of Kansas City”. This event took place at the KC public library and is presented in the framework of the international “Nuit des idées”.
Merci à l'AF de Kansas City pour le partage !
