Meet us at in the lobby of the Marriott Residence Inn (the convention hotel) at 9:00 am on Sunday, October 27 for a tour of the Seattle hot spots. Guides from the AF de Seattle will accompany you on the Seattle Monorail from Westlake to the Seattle Center. Within the Seattle Center you can explore several attractions, including the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, Museum of Pop Culture, the Seattle Center Armory and more. (Complimentary tickets to the Chihuly Garden and Glass have been arranged; for all other attractions, you’ll pay the tickets individually, depending on your own choices.)
We’ll then return via the Monorail to the downtown area and we’ll walk a few blocks west to Pike Place Market, where you can visit the vendors, the artisans, the fish mongers, and the first Starbucks, etc. You can also visit the new Overlook Walk, a $70 million connector between Pike Place Market and the Seattle waterfront. It opened at the beginning of this month! For those who have time, we’ll wrap up the tour with a late lunch at Café Campagne at Pike Place Market (it is owned by Chef Daisley Gordon, a board member of the Alliance Française of Seattle). Participants will enjoy 50% off the chef’s signature dessert, Baba Rhum, with the purchase of a starter or main.
The tour involves lots of walking, some of it on hills. Note that the tour ends at Pike Place Market, a short and direct walk of 12 minutes to the hotel. Ubers are abundant as an option.
