Eligibility Criteria and Expectations: Board of Directors 2026

In accepting nominees for the Federation Board, the eligibility criteria are the following:

Each prospective board member must be a member in good standing of an Alliance Française chapter that has paid in full its annual dues to the Federation.
Each prospective board member must have demonstrated leadership skills over a proven period at his or her Alliance chapter, and be in good standing with key partners, such as the Fondation, and French governmental agencies and representatives.
Board members are required to attend the annual meeting; they are also encouraged to attend the mid-year meeting as well as other periodic meetings held by Zoom.
Board members must request in advance to be excused from meetings. This request must be made in writing to the National Program Manager.
Board members are expected to make an annual donation to the Federation; the minimum expected donation level is $500, although we would greatly appreciate donations in the range of $750 to $1,000. Board members are also welcome to seek a comparable monetary donation from another source, corporate or individual.
Each board member serves on one or more standing or ad-hoc committees of the Federation Board.
Each board member must be willing to share his or her expertise with fellow members and the National Programs Administrator.
Each board member is expected to serve as an ambassador of the Federation in his or her community.
