A
non-profit corporation, Alliance Française de Westchester,
Inc., is an affiliate of the international Alliance
Française, which was founded in France in 1883. In
1888, Alliance Française established its first chapter
in the United States. Today there are 138 chapters,
serving over 30,000 members throughout the country.
The mission of the Alliance Française is to promote an appreciation for the French
language and the literature, histories and cultures of France and Francophone
countries, while encouraging mutual understanding and friendship between people
from Francophone backgrounds and Americans in the immediate community.
Alliance Française de Westchester offers day and evening classes, lectures, films,
and special events. As a member of Alliance Française, you have access to opportunities
that enrich your love of the French language and Francophone art, cuisine, traditions,
etc., and you meet fellow francophiles in the Westchester-Fairfield area.
