CLASSES:

We offer classes for all levels of proficiency and for a variety of needs. All offerings are taught by trained, native-speaking teachers, and classes are kept small to both encourage participation and ensure individualized attention. Private lessons for adults and children are available, as are NYS Regents review classes for high school students. Advanced Placement French Language preparation is also available.

The Alliance Française of Westchester offers evening courses designed for those involved in French commerce. “Français des Affaires” (Business French) will provide students with the vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and phrases critical to navigating French business environments. Topics will include customer service and management, banking, law, and computers. “France Contemporaine” (Contemporary France) will provide an overview of French history and values that are relevant to today’s French culture. Topics will include the foundations of French government and values, and constitutional issues today in the face of France’s increasingly diverse population.

Even if you have studied French before, we encourage you to take a Placement Test so that we can determine the most appropriate class(es) for your needs. Private lessons are always an option if scheduled classes are not convenient.
In order to save time, you may download the following Placement Tests to do at home and bring the day you come to register. Choose the test appropriate to your level. Do not try to prepare for the test: the objective is not to get a good grade, but to be placed in a class appropriate to your needs and proficiency with the French language.
