The French Alliance Network in the United States is affiliated with the century-old
worldwide network, which was established at the Alliance Francaise de Paris in July 1883
by “sponsors” like Jules Verne , Louis Pasteur , Ferdinand de Lesseps …in order to promote
French culture and language .
Today, it is the most important cultural network in the world ( 137 countries ).
The entire cultural network includes 1,135 Alliance chapters established , serving over
400,000 students .
The French Alliance in the USA is more than centennial; the first American Alliance ' chapter
was establised in 1888 ; it is federating about 125 local organizations which are serving 35,000 learners .
In Tampa Bay , Florida , the Pinellas ' chapter was founded in 1969 to foster our County ’s awareness of France
and the French language. It is serving St Petersburg , Clearwater , Palm Harbor ...
Through its educational and cultural programs, the French Alliance in Pinellas offers a unique opportunity
to experience the French language and culture.
It is also a Francophone Alliance as the crossroad of Francophone and Francophile people in Pinellas county.
